SANTA ANA, CA - The Inland Empire/Orange County Unit of RFB&D serves people in need of accessible textbooks throughout Southern California. This effort is supported by volunteers and relies on the charitable contributions and philanthropy of donors. The PIMCO Foundation in Newport Beach, CA, recognizes the needs of disabled students as well, and on Wednesday, October 3, the foundation made a contribution of $25,000.00 through our adopt-a-text program. By adopting 25 textbooks, the foundation has helped ensure that disabled students can have access to the books they need. RFB&D volunteers will record these books at its Santa Ana studio.

The PIMCO Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life in our community by supporting organizations that help people in need to lead more rewarding and responsible lives. Each year The PIMCO Foundation directs a considerable portion of its charitable budget toward grants to non-profit agencies, charities, educational institutions and arts organizations. Donations generally target Orange County organizations that give emphasis to certain areas of focus, and The PIMCO Foundation strives to direct its support to organizations that demonstrate the ability to promote its mission.

For 60 years, Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D), a national nonprofit, volunteer organization, has been the leading producer of accessible educational materials for students with disabilities such as visual impairment or dyslexia that make reading standard print difficult or impossible. With titles available in every subject area and grade level from kindergarten through graduate studies, RFB&D’s digitally recorded textbooks are effective learning tools for students challenged by the printed page.

The Inland Empire/Orange County Unit of RFB&D relies on contributions from foundations and individuals to carry out its mission of service in Southern California. Through the generosity and help of our donors, learners throughout Southern California overcome their disabilities and achieve the success they deserve. We applaud The PIMCO Foundation for helping us enhance the lives of the people we serve.
